In the year 2007, e-commerce sales were accounted for close to 5.0%; In 2019, e-commerce sales forecasted was up to 16.0%.

How does e-commerce work?

E-commerce is operated by the internet, where the customer has access to browse through the online store and then further buy or place an order for the products or services via their electronic devices.

As the order is placed, there is an interaction between the web browser used by the customer and the server at which the online store is hosted. Data here is very important to handle as data concerned to the order will be passed on to the central computer device which is also known as the order manager and then forwarded to the databases that handle the inventory levels, even to a merchant system that manages online payment transactions information like G-pay, Phonepe and Paytm. This makes sure that there are sufficient store inventory and customer funds for the order placed successfully. The order manager will provide the information and notify the store's web server after the order is validated, which will further display a notifying message to the customer that their order has been processed successfully. The order manager will then send details of order data to the warehouse, to fulfill the dispatch of the product or service placed by the customer.
